Sunday spent wisely at Grand Hills Hotel.

It's time to think of alternatives on how to spend your Sunday other than the beach. Just 20 minutes away from Beirut and located in Broumana, Grand Hills Hotel and Spa Broumana will mesmerize you with panoramic nature views from its terrace where the beautiful pool is located and the Sunday buffet is served.
The buffet includes a variety of Lebanese mezza and appetizers, international salads, a live pasta station, main platters, dessert and for the first time we see it in a buffet: a kids section.
• This time we wanted to be organized, so our first platter consisted of salads. The Greek salad was so delicious. The feta was not too salty and all the ingredients were fresh. The chef salad was excellent with generous amount of cheese and ham. We loved the Caesar salad, the fattoush, and the tabbouleh but unfortunately we were not able to try the tuna salad, the pasta salad and many others since there was still much more to eat.
• Now for the mezza, should we talk about the tasty shrimps or the tender roast beef or the bastarma or the smoked salmon... Whatever we talk about we will say the same word yummy. Not to forget the hommos, the tajen samak, the shanklish, the batenjen, the tasty salmon rolls and many more.
•We couldn't but sneak some crispy nuggets and fries, mini pizzas and mini burgers from the kids section because no matter how old we are we will always love them.
• Our favorite part was the live pasta station. They offer the choice between white sauce with mushroom and cheese or bolognaise. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauces were very mouthwatering.
• The hot dishes included kafta, soujok, taouk, paella, trout salmon, accompanied with steamed rice, steamed vegetables or grilled potatoes.
We adored the paella as it contained unlimited amount of sea food such as jumbo shrimps, mussels and calamari.
The taouk was very light and tasty.
The soujok were full of spices and we couldn't stop eating them.

• The moment we always wait for in a buffet is the sweet one. Their desserts will satisfy everybody's taste buds. They have osmaliye, mouhallabiyeh, oum ali and sfouf for Lebanese desserts lovers plus international classics like tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate tarte, exotic tarte, the majestic mille-feuille, chocolate mousse, brownies, cakes and many more. Every single item was succulent but we fell in love with the tiramisu, the cheesecake and the mille-feuille.

It's always a great idea to pamper yourself on a Sunday so you get all the energy you need to start a fresh week. The Sunday buffet at Grand Hills will do the trick and put you in a great mood.

Bistro Bar Hamra, Stick to the Salads, Drinks, and Appetizers.

n Hamra you will find numerous restaurants that serve Italian, Iraqi, Thai, Mexican, and International Cuisine. Bistro Bar located in Makdessi Street offers a varied menu that starts with a morning breakfast to salads, appetizers, sandwiches, main platters and of course refreshing cocktails.
We ordered a Rosemary Chicken Salad, Truffle Potato, a Steak Sandwich, a Hamburger and Pain Perdu for dessert.

• The Truffle Potato were good. It consists of fried cubed potatoes in a creamy truffle sauce. We would have preferred if they were crispier.

• The Rosemary Chicken Salad was delicious. It contained grilled chicken, cashew nuts, avocado, green mix and cherry tomatoes in a rosemary lemon vinaigrette. The chicken was well marinated, the vegetables were fresh and the sauce was very tasty.
• The Steak Sandwich was catastrophic! We stopped eating it after the very first bite because the steak was burnt and too dry! Normally in a steak sandwich, the beef should be juicy and tender.

• When we saw the hamburger we fell in love with its presentation but unfortunately not in its taste. They excelled in the presentation and forgot about the content. The patty was chewy, we did not feel the cheddar cheese or any sauce. The chips made it even more dry and heavy. The caramelized onion were extremely oily and they should have put them in the burger and not aside. The fries were good.

•Now for the dessert we had a Pain Perdu since they said in the menu that it was a special recipe. Well we did not feel anything special about it. It tasted like unbaked cake and was served with a watery caramel sauce. The bread was already moist and when we added the watery sauce and the ice cream it became very liquid and lost the consistency of the flavor

Bistro Bar offers happy hour discount everyday from 5 PM-8 PM so you can benefit from the 50% discount on drinks, appetizers and salads as they are way better than the other items they serve.

Sai Sushi restaurant in Mtayleb.

We don't mind going to the borders of Lebanon in order to eat Sushi. Our latest visit was to Saï on Mtayleb highway. Saï opened a branch in Horch Tabet last month but we wanted to try the original one. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with light colors creating positive vibes.
We ordered Killer Kani salad and a mixture of Ura makis.
• The Killer Kani is the same as crazy salad but instead of mayo they used sesame sauce which gave it an unusual taste. I liked it and found it healthy but my colleague thought it was dry and not tasty.

The ura makis were varied some were good and some were not. The common negative thing is that the rice was kind of squashed because it was over cooked so our struggle was to eat a full piece before it falls apart.

• The Mango Wrap contained shrimp, mango and spring onion. It's not appetizing to serve the shrimp shredded as we did not feel the taste of the shrimp. Usually they are served one piece. Same thing goes to the avocado spicy shrimp. We did not like both orders.

• The Stark Naked contained salmon and philly cheese, it was delicious as the salmon was fresh.

• The Crispy California had huge cucumber slices which ruined it's taste.

Our hunt for new sushi restaurants is still going on.
